Discovery Bay organised a series of summer eco-tours, introducing residents to ESG principles and sustainable living. The programme commenced with a guided visit to the kNOw Carbon House, located within the century-old Old Wan Chai Post Office. Through expert sharing, and interactive games and workshops, participants gained valuable insights into carbon neutrality and low-carbon lifestyle.
During the visit to Organic Resources Recovery Centre Phase 1 (O.Park 1) in Siu Ho Wan, Lantau Island, participants learned about its daily operations and challenges associated with the large volume of food waste generated each day, through in-depth presentations from the tour guide and special character “Big Waster”.
The final tour featured MilMill, Hong Kong’s first pulp mill and education centre that recycles beverage cartons. Participants observed the full recycling workflow and took part in a hands-on activity to create aroma stones with recycled pulp, learning about the value behind upcycling.
This series of interactive experiences provided residents with practical knowledge of sustainable practices, building a low-carbon community in Discovery Bay together.
