Empowering Youth for Climate Action: DB Eco-Tour for COP30 Student Ambassadors

The 30th UN Climate Change Conference (COP30) kicked off on 10 November in Belém, Brazil. To deepen students’ understanding of COP30 and nurture future leaders, the Group fully supports “The UN Climate Change Conference COP 30 Secondary School Student Ambassadors Training Programme” by The Conservancy Association. Over 30 student ambassadors were recruited and participated in an eco-tour in Discovery Bay.

During the tour, the ambassadors explored the relationship between native plants and pollinating insects at DBee Oasis, Hong Kong’s first urban oasis for pollinators. They learned about bee ecology and discovered the unique mangrove ecosystem of Discovery Bay. This experience enhanced their awareness of biodiversity and its vital role in ecosystem stability. At DB Community Green Square, the ambassadors planted their own potted plants, engaged in group discussions, and creatively incorporated ecological and conservation elements into their designs of ideal gardens.

Looking ahead, the student ambassadors will serve as advocates for sustainability within their schools, sharing their knowledge and inspiring peers and teachers to embrace sustainable living.
