Sporting Highlights at Discovery Bay: Pickleball and Ice Hockey Tournaments

For years, Discovery Bay has demonstrated a strong commitment to sports development. Discovery Bay Recreation Club boasts 25 pickleball courts, and DB Ice Rink meets international standards, with the expansive scale and comprehensive facilities, these venues serve not only as a professional training ground for various sports but also as a prime location for hosting both local and international sporting events, including recent tournaments in pickleball and ice hockey.

World Pickleball Championship 2025 - Hong Kong, China

A dynamic lineup of international sporting events has recently taken stage in Discovery Bay. Standing out as a premier sporting event, the third “World Pickleball Championship 2025 - Hong Kong, China” was successfully held at Discovery Bay Recreation Club (DBRC) from 5 to 7 December 2025 by TLP Pickleball Association of HK, China. As the largest pickleball event in Asia, over 800 players from 16 countries and regions competed in more than 1,700 matches, marking the triumph of over 30 champions across categories.

Notably, this year marked the introduction of an inaugural all-star celebrity game. Local celebrities competed at DBRC’s newly opened pickleball court, serving as a highlight to the event. The event generated extensive media attention, with multiple television networks covering its excitement.

In support of the residents affected by the Tai Po Wang Fuk Court Fire, DBRC donated all net proceeds from venue on 5 December to the “Support Fund for Wang Fuk Court in Tai Po”. Charity booths were set up at the venue for spectators to write down their blessings and messages, fostering a spirit of compassion and collective care. 

Asia Super League

DB Ice Rink, in partnership with China Hockey Group, proudly hosted the Asia Super League from 21 to 23 November. A total of 11 teams across the U11, U13, and U16 divisions from around the region showcased enthusiasm, extraordinary skills and competitive spirit, underscoring the power of a premier cross-border platform for young talent.

The tournament was designed to provide a high-level international competitive platform, enabling local players to challenge themselves against top talent from across Asia, elevating their skills and competitive experiences. This initiative has further advanced the development of ice hockey both locally and across the region.
