Cultivating Knowledge and Belonging: Inspiring Young Minds in Discovery Bay

“DB Classroom on the Sea”: Inspiring Maritime Safety and Ferry Knowledge for Primary Students

About 100 Primary 3 students from SKH Wei Lun Primary School stepped out of their classrooms and boarded the DB ferry to join the "DB Classroom on the Sea." A joint initiative by Love.Together@DB, a caring platform under Hong Kong Resort Company Limited, and Discovery Bay Transportation Services Limited, the programme offered them a real-life opportunity to rediscover the ferry service that they use every day.

Inside the vessel, students listened attentively to broadcasts on ferry rules and passenger guidelines, strengthening safety awareness. Some were selected to try on life jackets to learn their proper use. During interactive exchanges with the crew, students gained insights into daily maritime work and the crew’s dedication to ensuring smooth navigation and passenger safety. They also explored different sections of the vessel, including the wheel room, where they observed navigation equipment up close and experienced captain’s perspective. This short journey gave students practical knowledge of ferry operations and maritime safety, while fostering appreciation for the waters they cross and the services that connect their community.

“DB Home Sweet Home”: Exploring Our Community Together

“DB Home Sweet Home” organised by Love.Together@DB, Discovery Bay Services Management Limited, Discovery Bay Road Tunnel Company Limited, and Discovery Bay Transit Services Limited, welcomed another 100 Primary 3 students from SKH Wei Lun Primary School again. They set aside their textbooks and took on the role as “community explorers” for Discovery Bay, the place where they live and study in.

The programme began with an interactive session named "How Much Do You Know About Discovery Bay?" During this engaging introduction, students delved into the rich history and fascinating facts of Discovery Bay, and answered questions to win prizes, fostering a stronger sense of belonging and responsibility.

The journey continued with an exploration of electric vehicles at the school playground, where participants learned the green benefits and the important role these vehicles played in advancing Discovery Bay’s green lifestyle. At the Discovery Bay Tunnel Control Room, students gained valuable exposure to its functions, operations and the evolution of local road transport. Concluding the programme, students arrived at the Discovery Bay Reservoir. In this tranquil setting, they listened attentively to stories of its past and present, developing a deeper appreciation of the reservoir’s transformation and its enduring value as a vital community resource.
