From Discovery Bay to Campuses: Student Ambassadors Continue Ecological Action

Last year, HKR International fully supported The Conservancy Association’s “UN Climate Change Conference COP 30 Secondary School Student Ambassadors Training Programme”, bringing together secondary school students concerned about climate issues to explore topics related to the UN Climate Change Conference. Under the programme, Discovery Bay organised eco-tours, introducing DBee Oasis, Hong Kong’s first urban oasis for pollinators, the unique mangrove ecosystem of the mangrove in Discovery Bay, and the Discovery Bay Community Green Square.

Earlier this month, student ambassadors who had participated in the Discovery Bay eco-tours, brought what they learned back to campus, encouraging teachers and students to lead a green lifestyle. Some students used seeds provided by the Discovery Bay Landscape team to grow basil, mint, lettuce and choi sum, observing and recording their growth to gain practical insights into healthy cultivation. Some ambassadors even established student farms and launched campuswide recycling initiatives, carrying Discovery Bay’s sustainability values into their own communities.

More school sharing activities will be held, engaging with over 1,300 teachers and students across ten schools.
