HKRI Taikoo Hui Recognised as a Model Green Property for Its ESG Practices

HKRI Taikoo Hui, the Group’s Shanghai flagship project, was honoured as the “Excellent Energy User Unit” by the Development and Reform Commission of Jing’an District at the Shanghai International Carbon Neutrality Expo in Technologies, Products and Achievements.  The accolade acknowledged HKRI Taikoo Hui’s exemplary achievements in energy and emissions reduction.

As a benchmark for green and lowcarbon properties in Shanghai, HKRI Taikoo Hui was the only corporate in Jing'an session invited to present its case study at the Expo. Ms. Connie Ting, General Manager of Leasing and Management of HKRI and Joint General Manager of HKRI Taikoo Hui, shared HKRI Taikoo Hui’s ESG strategies in enhancing building performance through energy management, green leasing and tenant collaboration.

Since its completion, HKRI Taikoo Hui has embedded lowcarbon strategies at its core, establishing a digital green operation system spanning energy, water, operations, and tenant engagement. Through smart systems and highefficiency equipment, HKRI Taikoo Hui has saved electricity consumption by approximately 5 million kWh annually. In advancing carbon reduction, HKRI Taikoo Hui’s heating electrification programme continues to progress, reducing around 1,500 tonnes of carbon emissions each year and aiming to achieve full zerocarbon heating by 2030. Other initiatives include intelligent water recycling measures such as reclaimed water systems and optimised cooling tower operations.

HKRI Taikoo Hui also extends its sustainability ethos to tenants, partnering with them through initiatives such as “Green Kitchen” recognition scheme and the “Environmental Performance Charter” to foster collective carbon reduction.
