With the State Council recently relaxing entry restrictions, simplifying requirements, and streamlining procedures for Hong Kong and Macao yachts entering the Chinese Mainland via designated Greater Bay Area (GBA) ports – has injected new momentum into the regional yacht tourism.

 

HKR International is committed to advancing yacht tourism across the GBA. By fully supporting the "Northbound Yacht Travel" and "Southbound Yacht Travel" schemes, the Group actively drives two-way mobility and seamless integration of yachts across the region.

 

 

Earlier, Mr. Franklin Mak, Executive Vice President of Hospitality at HKR International, was invited by Guangzhou official authorities to participate in the filming of the official promotional video for the launch of GBA yacht tourism. In the video, Mr. Mak shared Hong Kong’s firm commitment for yacht tourism; he was also sole representative from a Hong Kong enterprise to be featured - a strong testament to the Group’s pivotal and influential position in driving the development of yacht tourism.

The Group’s Lantau Yacht Club has been actively engaged in industry activities to discuss yacht tourism and the “southbound yacht travel” trend. Mr. Alex Lee, Director of Marketing & Membership at Auberge Hospitality, represented the Club at the “Shanghai International Yachting Week”, where he showcased Hong Kong’s unique marine advantages and Discovery Bay’s well-established yachting infrastructure and service capabilities. 

 

Additionally, Lantau Yacht Club joined the “GBA Marina & Port Tour 2026” and other study tours, visiting marinas in Guangzhou, Zhuhai, Shenzhen and Shanghai to gain in depth understanding of their customs, immigration and quarantine (CIQ) operations.

 

 

To further encourage Chinese Mainland yachts to berth in Hong Kong, Lantau Yacht Club has introduced the “Individual Travel Berthing Scheme”, offering designated privileges for PRC-registered yachts. This scheme aims to attract more Chinese Mainland yachts to visit Hong Kong, reinforcing sustained growth in cross-border yacht tourism.
