HKR International was honoured with “UNSDG Achievement Awards Hong Kong 2026 - Organisation Award - Gold” organised by the Green Council, while Discovery Bay Services Management Limited received the “Project Award” with Discovery Bay’s age-friendly initiative - Elderly Caring Group as the Recognised Project. The award recognises organisations and projects that translate the United Nation (UN)’s global sustainability agenda into concrete and measurable actions, making this accolade a meaningful testament to the long-term ESG commitment of the Group and its operations.

Sustainability Embedded across Operations

The award reflects the steady progress the Group has made across our operations across Hong Kong, Chinese Mainland and overseas:

Cleaner energy*: A total of 962 solar panels were installed at the CDW Building, DB North Plaza, Tsing Yi Shipyard, DB Tunnel Building No. 1 and 2, staff quarter and warehouse at DB, generating more than 514,500 kWh of clean energy into the grid, reducing CO2e by about 174,900 kg, the equivalent of planting 7,600 trees. In addition, marine light diesel use fell 9% year on year, and half the hire-car fleet now runs on electricity.

Greener building*: HKRI Taikoo Hui has achieved LEED® Platinum for its office towers and LEED® Gold for its retail mall. In addition, the first batch of completed residences at “Toscana” of Discovery Bay has been provisionally awarded BEAM Plus Gold and WELL Health-Safety Rating™ pre-certification.

Circular waste*: The Group reached an overall 69% waste diversion rate. Food waste was sent to O·PARK1 for conversion into biogas and compost, wood waste was recycled as landscape materials and furniture, and coffee grounds and fabric offcuts were upcycled into soap and household products. Total spending on green procurement also increased by 19%.

Group-level environmental policies*: HKRI has established several policies, including The Sustainability Policy, the Environmental Policy, the Green Procurement Policy, and the Climate Change Policy, offering comprehensive guidance to business units in managing environmental responsibilities.  

Looking Ahead

The Gold Award is an encouraging milestone, but it is also a reminder that sustainability is an ongoing journey. The Group will continue to incorporate sustainability into everyday decision-making, broaden environmental and community initiatives, and contribute to the transition
